Boston Bruins 2011 Draft Picks Update: 30 June

By popular request, here is the latest on Bruins picks for the 2011 Draft.

Right now, B's are looking at eight selections, with a third- and seventh-rounder already having been traded, but extra 1st, 2nd, 4th-rounders having been picked up, with the possibility that the 4th could turn into a third if Phoenix re-ups Derek Morris.

One of those 2011 first-rounders will turn into a nice bargaining chip at next March's trade deadline if the Bruins are solidly in contention. We'll have to wait and see.

  1. The Bruins have had a couple of heart breaking ends to playoffs the past couple of years but with all of these picks and a young nucleus, this could turn out to be the best team we have had since the Neely, Oats, Bourque days.

The Bs will need to spend on a big free agent next year (winger) and bring in another game changer for the D. The rest is developing who they have in the system.

The upside is the youth of the team, there is a 5 year window for these guys I reckon, but they cannot have another playoff melt down and have to have three lines able to put the puck in the net.

  2. Too many prospects in my opinion. Some are going to have to move.

  3. D. Morris re-signs with PHX. We now have a 3rd rounder.
