Would you consider Etem as a boom or bust pick? Have to admit that I'm getting intrigued by him since 2 weeks ago. Basing on the write - ups I've read, I've wanted Watson at 15 but Etem looks like another option. Maybe he could replace the elements that Kessel gave the team.
ReplyDeleteKirk and the astute draftniks, if you were to make the B's pick at 15 and you had Etem, Watson and Forbort still on the board, who would you pick?
Yeah, there's some bust factor there, but there's no denying that he's got some real skill and his bloodlines are so darn impressive.
ReplyDeleteI still like Watson better, but if he's off the board and Etem is there, I think he'll merit some serious consideration.
I'd probably take Forbort over all three just because he's got that coveted "upside" that everyone talks about and the Bruins are so lacking in high-end defense prospects. But, it's close between them. I think Forbort may be a tad overrated by some folks who are in love with the writeups but haven't really seen him or talked to those who have enough to judge. For all of his impressive offensive ability, he didn't do a lot production-wise.
The guy on that monster NTDP defense corps who really can really put up the points is fellow Minnesotan Justin Faulk, but you don't hear as much about him because he's only 6-0. If he had two or three more inches, people would be all over him with the ooing and ahhing. But, because he's closer to Matt Hunwick in height, he's often overlooked when the discussion of Forbort, Jon Merrill and Jarred Tinordi comes up.
