B's-Habs Centennial Game: In a Word- Brutal

In a night of pomp and circumstance at the Bell Centre, the Boston Bruins must've gotten so caught up in the Montreal Canadiens' pregame celebration that they forgot that a real hockey game that actually counts in the standings was being played afterwards.

It's 5-0, Habs after 40 minutes, with a Mike Camalleri hatty (he has 15 goals on the year- almost twice what Boston's leading scorers Patrice Bergeron and Marco Sturm have). Plenty of blame pie to go around on this one...no one really gets spared, and to be honest- who really cares? Trying to defend any one Bruins player with the way the team has played is making mountains out of molehills on this one. You're better off rearranging your sock drawer.

The B's blew a 5-on-3 advantage with Montreal up, 1-0, and then the wheels came off as they allowed four goals.

Pretty sloppy play by the Bruins and a pretty lousy game to be at if you're a Boston fan and paid the kind of money it took to see thisone live. On the other hand, if you're a Habs fan, then your life is a McDonald's commercial right now: Ba-da-da-da-da...I'm Lovin' It!

Bruins have a big test tomorrow night at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who've won two straight and are looking good with the immortal Joey MacDonald in net for them.

More on that game later...the Bruins sucked the life out of me with their performance tonight. Maybe they can salvage some pride in the third, but after this fiasco, they need to put it in the rearview mirror and get ready for tomorrow.

UPDATE: Start of the third and oh, look- Tuukka Rask is in the nets. Won't change Boston's fate, but they can make the boxscore appear a little better at least.
